A fire took hold of a vehicle transporting dead lambs in Hamilton yesterday afternoon, fully engulfing the vehicle with flames.
At about 1pm, the white four-wheel drive Suzuki Stockman caught fire when travelling along Fyfe St, the female occupant exited the vehicle before being injured.
Community members helped keep the area safe until emergency services arrived.
In the vehicle was what the woman thought were four dead lambs, but one was still alive and needed to be put down on site.
The ute was carrying bales of wool and a representative of Hamilton Police said the fire started at the front of the vehicle, possibly ignited by loose hay.
