Two car accidents

South West roads

Two accidents occurred almost simultaneously on south-west roads.
Police in the south-west were busy attending two separate accidents last night, with wild winds contributing to tougher driving conditions.

At about 6.45pm, a single vehicle accident was reported on Casterton-Dartmoor Rd, when the female driver, travelling with her six-year-old son in the backseat, missed a tight turn and ran off the road.

The woman was trapped for at least an hour, and was then airlifted to Melbourne, where she is expected to make a full recovery.

Her young son was conveyed to the Mount Gambier Hospital for assessment.

Around the same time at 7pm, a female driver was travelling along Penshurst-Warrnambool Rd near Minhamite, leaving the road and rolling the car multiple times.

She was taken to the Warrnambool Base Hospital with a suspected back injury.
