With school holidays on the horizon and no reason needed to leave home, small town businesses across the Southern Grampians Shire are relying on local support.

It's places like Cavendish, Coleraine, Dunkeld and Penshurst, and Balmoral, they usually offer services to visitors traveling through, they may pick up a coffee or snack, but with limited reasons to leave home business operators have struggled.

Chief Executive of the Shire, Michael Tudball, encourages locals to think about going for a drive through these iconic communities in our region.

"How about we stay in the shire for now, and go to our places, go to Dunkeld, Penshurt, there's been the Penny winebar that's opened up again, Cavendish, you know all of the places that we have, it would be really encouraging for locals to get out and support locals."
