Local groups and organisations are being encouraged to apply for funding for projects that benefit the community as the second round of the 2019/20 Southern Grampians Shire Council’s Greater Grants Program opens next week.

On the 13th January 2020, the grant applications will officially open at 9am, before closing at 4pm on the 19th February 2020.

Mayor Chris Sharples, on behalf of Council, is pleased to be able to provide this extremely popular funding, and to see such a wide variety of community groups coming forward with local initiatives.

Council’s Greater Grants program offers up to $15,000 to eligible community groups per financial year for events, projects and initiatives that benefit the Southern Grampians Shire directly.

The Grants are available in a range of categories, including Arts and Cultural Development, Community Strengthening, Tourism and Events, Environmental Sustainability, Heritage and Community Infrastructure.

The ‘Smarty Grants’ system has also been adopted by Council making the application process much simpler and more efficient, and the application form is currently available on the grants page on Council’s website.
