After attack on former Hamilton man
A New Zealand national who punched a former Hamilton man that endured life threatening injuries in an Airlie Beach pub brawl in 2017, received a two year suspended sentence in Mackay court on Tuesday.
Sam Haggitt who fled back to his home country following the sickening attack, will also pay $15,000 in compensation to the victim, Sam Clapham.
Clapham spent months in hospital following the incident and continues to feel impairment almost two years on.
Haggitt had no previous criminal history and was remorseful in court, the judge labelling his actions as stupid.
The suspended sentence will hang over his head for three years.
