Glenelg Shire celebrations
The Glenelg Shire will go rainbow against discrimination this May in celebration of International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).
IDAHOBIT Day (17 May) is recognised annually and celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as raising awareness for the work still needed to do to increase acceptance.
To celebrate, Council will host a community pride event at the Heywood Football Netball Clubrooms on 16 May 2021 from 11am – 1pm. The first of its kind event, led by the Glenelg Shire Youth team, will offer a Q and A session with a local LGBTQIA+ guest speaker, live music, face painting and more.
