Cape Bridgewater

In an update regarding an incident involving a significant number of injured and starving koalas on a private property near Cape Bridgewater the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning report.

The wildlife assessment at Cape Bridgewater was completed over the weekend after a final search of the site no further koalas were found.

More than 180 koalas have been assessed 113 released back into the wild and 30 koalas have been euthanised.

More than 40 koalas have been moved to rehabilitation facilities.

Significant resources have been involved in the investigation, including the Police Airwing use of a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (drone) to conduct mapping of the crime scene.

Cheif Conservation regulator of DELWP Kate Gavens says the investigation is still ongoing, most likely finishing up at the end of this week.
