Police out in force

Local police have been called to a number of violent and antisocial incidents around licensed venues in Hamilton, Warrnambool and Portland.

Acting Senior Sergeant Cameron Ross said police will be out in force in an effort to prevent these incidents from happening so that the community can have a safe and enjoyable time.

"We've seen a disappointing increase in violent and anti-social incidents in and around our clubs and pubs in Warrnambool, Hamilton and Portland. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the great pubs and clubs that we have across the division without fear of getting caught up in a violent situation."

"Everyone has a role to play in this, licensees, security, police and the general public, however ultimately it is up to the individual to make the right choice to walk away or not escalate the situation."

"Take responsibility for your own actions and understand there are consequences should you make the wrong decision. Police will be out in force in an effort to prevent these incidents from occurring to ensure the community has a safe and enjoyable time."

"Remember a split second decision can have a life changing result." Mr Ross said.
