Barley Farmers hit with 80% tax
China has imposed a massive 80 per cent tariff on Australian barley imports.
This will greatly affect barley growers across the south-west who are in the middle of cropping season.
They deem the product to have been imported against trade rules.
The import tax will remain in place for five years.
Chair of Grain Producers and Wimmera farmer Andrew Weidemann says the market has to rebuild its self.
