A Hamilton man has allegedly attempted to abduct a 19-year-old woman who was making door-to-door sales for solar panels.

Detective Sergeant Mark James of the Hamilton Police Crime Investigation unit say on Tuesday at 4:45 as the sales woman was going door-to-door along Hamilton's Shilcock Street and Duke Avenue a 20 year old male lured her into a vacant house.

Sergeant James says he attempted to drag her into a backyard she managed to get away and raise the alarm.

She identified the offender and appeared at the Warranambool courts on Wednesday.

The opportunistic attack has left the woman shaken up and luckily she only suffered minor injuries.

The police are appealing for any witness who saw a young woman of Asian appearance and a man wearing a fluro orange work shirt between 4:40 and 5pm in the area.

Meanwhile public amenities near the youth activity and skate space along the Portland Foreshore has been temporarily closed due to vandalism.

Extensive damage was caused to the amenities block, and police investigations are currently underway.

The facility will be closed until the end of the week and temporary fencing has been installed around the perimeter during this period.

Meanwhile, community members can access nearby public amenities at the Old Boat Ramp, adjacent to the Portland Yacht Club.
