Even the smartest, most street-wise recipients are being fooled

An ATO phone scam has exploded in the lead up to Christmas, with 830 thousand dollars being scammed from victims across the state in the last month alone.

The pre-recorded messages are coming from landlines and threaten to arrest people, if they don't pay a tax bill.

Deputy Chair of the ACCC's Scam Watch Delia Rickard has told Macquarie Radio's Neil Mitchell, even the smartest, most street-wise recipients are being fooled.
